Sentence Types
There are 4 main types of sentences:

Declarative
Declarative sentences make a statement to relay information or ideas. They are punctuated with a simple period.
ex. The great white shark has sharp teeth.
Interrogative
Interrogative sentences ask a question and always use a question mark.
ex. What's your favorite dinosaur
Imperative
Imperative sentences issue commands or requests or they can express a desire or wish.
ex. Go to bed.
Exclamatory
Exclamatory sentences express strong emotion. It doesn’t really matter what the emotion is, an exclamatory sentence is the type of sentence needed to express it. Exclamatory sentences always end in an exclamation mark, so it’s pretty easy to spot them.
ex. Watch out!
and two more types:
Compound
A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined by a coordinator.
ex. I like baseball and hockey
I like soccer but not chess

Complex
A complex sentence has an independent clause joined by one or more dependent clauses.
ex. If it rains, I will not go outside
They boy, in red pajamas, is nice.
The moon is bright, when no clouds are out.
